  1. 6. Antibody-associated inflammation in and outside the joint in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Vijay Joshua; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by pain, chronic inflammation and joint destruction. Epidemiological investigations in large populationbased cohorts have identified both genetic (such as HLA-DRB1 Shared epitope, SE) and environmental (such as smoking) risk factors for the development of RA. 2. 7. Chronic Obstructive PulmonaryDisease : Early detection and prevention in primary care

    Författare :Georgios Stratelis; Sigvard Mölstad; Per Jakobsson; Olle Zetterström; Kjell Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims. Early detection of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and secondary prevention by means of smoking cessation are the only available methods of stopping the progression of the disease. The overall aim was to examine the possibilities of early detection and prevention of COPD in General Practice. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Langerhans cell histiocytosis : a clinical and immunological study

    Författare :Cecilia Bernstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Langerhans cell histiocytosis LCH ; survival; follow-up; sequelae; lungs; CNS; monitoring; smoking; HLA;

    Sammanfattning : Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), previously known as histiocytosis X, eosinophilic granuloma, Hand-Schüller-Christian or Letterer-Siwe disease, is a rare disease with a reported incidence in childhood of 5.4 cases per million children per year. The disease can present at any age but young children are most often affected. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Ventilatory-perfusion relationships and respiratory drive in chronic obstructive pulmanory disease : with special reference to hypoxaemia, sleep quality and treatment with inhaled corticisteroid

    Författare :Karin Sandek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : By measuring retention in blood and excretion in exhaled air of six infused inert gases using multiple inert gas technique (MIGET), it is possible to obtain detailed assessment of the ventilation-perfusion (VA/Q) relationships in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Stable, non-bronchitic COPD patients show a substantial perfusion of hyper-ventilated lung regions. LÄS MER
