  1. 6. Early events of EBV mediated B cell transformation

    Författare :Katja Pokrovskaja; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :EBV; EBNA; p53; LMP-1; BL; GC; pNDCFs;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) efficiently immortalizes B cells in vitro leading to the establishment of lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs). Genes encoding RB and p53 are frequently deleted or mutated in human tumors. EBV immortalized LCLs, however, retain both genes in their wild type state. LÄS MER

  2. 7. New diagnostic and prognostic methods to improve the effectiveness of cervical cancer screening

    Författare :Maria Persson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HR HPV DNA;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has made use of real-life clinical practice to provide guidance for secondary prevention of cervical cancer. We combined epidemiological, virological and biostatistical investigations using HPV DNA and HPV E6/E7 mRNA tests in women who were identified with abnormal findings through the organised cervical cancerscreening programme. 3. 8. Surface Chemical Characteristics of Chromium-alloyed Steel Powder and the Role of Process Parameters during Sintering

    Författare :Dimitris Chasoglou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbothermal reaction; sintering atmosphere; depth profiling; XPS AES; HR SEM EDX; water atomized powder; surface coverage; reduction oxidation; PM steels; sintering; Cr-Mn-spinel oxides; surface oxides;

    Sammanfattning : Powder Metallurgy (PM) is a cost efficient method suitable for sustainable production of structural parts that have strict dimensional tolerances and complex geometries. It has been a common practice to utilize Ni and Cu as alloying elements in PM steels, but the high and fluctuating prices of Ni and the concerns around it associated with health hazards as well as the difficulty in recycling Cu lead the PM industry to search for effective alternatives such as Cr and Mn. 4. 9. Clinical and epidemiological studies in myeloproliferative neoplasms

    Författare :Malin Hultcrantz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), including polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF), are clonal hematopoietic disorders characterized by excessive terminally differentiated myeloid cells. MPNs can progress to secondary myelofibrosis or acute myeloid leukemia (AML)/myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). LÄS MER

  5. 10. Studies of anemia in the myelodysplastic syndromes

    Författare :Martin Jädersten; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Myelodysplasia; growth factors; Cox regression; delayed entry; left truncation; mortality; international prognostic scoring system; IPSS; who-classification based prognostic scoring system; WPSS; thalidomide analogue; IMiD; hematopoietic stem cell; adhesion; stroma; matrix; osteonectin; matricellular protein; NPM1; immunohistochemistry.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) constitute a heterogeneous group of malignant bone marrow disorders, characterized by chronic anemia and increased risk of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The first line therapy of anemia in MDS is erythropoietin (EPO) with or without granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). LÄS MER
