  1. 1. Pathogenetic factors of importance for the development and progression of rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Heidi Kokkonen; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Dirkjan van Schaardenburg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatoid arthritis; cytokines; autoantibodies; isotypes; PTPN22; HLA-SE; reumatologi; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation eventually leading to the destruction of cartilage and bone. The aetiopathogenesis is not completely understood, but previous studies have shown that the disease is multifactorial with genetic, environmental and hormonal factors involved. Immune cells, e. 2. 2. Arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens

    Författare :Karin Lundberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Post-translational modifications; pH; chlorination; citrullination; CII; CIA; RA;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory joint disorder with autoimmune features in which both genetic and environmental factors are potential contributors to the arthritogenic process. In this thesis work we aimed to increase the understanding of early pathogenic events underlying the development of this complex disease by investigating the arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens in experimental settings as well as in RA patients. 3. 3. Studies on the role of anti-citrullinated protein antibodies in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Aase Eline Haj Hensvold; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) are highly specific for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and present in about two thirds of all patients at diagnosis. They can be detected already before disease onset and have direct pathogenic effect mediated partly through the Fc (fragment crystalizable) portion with attached Fc-glycan structure. LÄS MER
