  1. 11. Proinflammatory and antigen-specific CD4+ T cells in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Jennifer Pieper; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease primarily affecting peripheral joints. In this thesis work we aimed to increase the knowledge about proinflammatory and antigen-specific CD4+ T cell subsets involved in RA pathogenesis and I also investigated the effect of T cell directed therapy (abatacept) on CD4+ T cell subsets. 2. 12. Genetic studies of the HLA locus in rheumatic diseases

    Författare :Emeli Lundström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) share a complex etiology consisting of both genetic and environmental components. Stimulation of lymphocytes and various other immune cells, release of cytokines, activation of complement and production of autoantibodies due to loss of tolerance to self-antigens, contributes to the pathogenesis of both RA and SLE. 3. 13. Genomic profiling and gene-gene interaction in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Klementy Shchetynsky; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Complex disease is characterized by the interplay of multiple genetic and environmental factors. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex autoimmune disease with a pronounced genetic component, mainly due to HLA-DRB1 gene, but also a multitude of loci outside the HLA region. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Recurrent spontaneous abortion : a clinical, immunological and genetic study

    Författare :Barbara Jablonowska; Ole Christiansen B.; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is defined as the loss of three or more consecutive pregnancies before 20 completed gestational weeks. The condition affects 0.5-1% of all women. In the majority of women with RSA, the cause remains unexplained after genetic, endocrine, immunological and anatomical investigations of the couple. 5. 15. The MHC and the recognition of self and altered self in experimental and rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Sabrina Haag; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a highly polymorphic and gene-dense region on chromosome 6 in humans and 20 in the rat. Genes in the MHC are the major risk factor for the development of autoimmunity. LÄS MER
