  1. 1. Hypoxia-induced phenotypic modulation of human neuroblastoma cells

    Författare :Linda Holmquist Mengelbier; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; reoxygenation; HIF-2a; HIF-1a; differentiation; hypoxia; neuroblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour derived from cells of the sympathetic nervous system, which are arrested at low differentiation stages. Low differentiation stage and high tumour stage correlate to poor outcome. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) and biological responses, in hypoxia, inflammation and embryonic vascular development

    Författare :Maria Hägg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Embryonic stem cell; embryoid body; HIF-1a; hypoxia; VEGF; angiogenesis; vasculogenesis; peritoneal dialysis;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Low oxygen tension (hypoxia) is a major inducer of neovascularisation and evidence emerging has indicated that oxygen tension and hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), a family of oxygen-regulated heterodimeric transcription factors, may play important roles in vascular and hematopoietic development. This thesis has focused on studying molecular and cellular mechanisms, by which cells and organisms sense changes in oxygen tension, and how this signal is transduced by HIFs into downstream signalling. 3. 3. Biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions involving intrinsically disordered proteins

    Författare :Ida Nyqvist; Jakob Dogan; Ivarsson Ylva; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Intrinsically disordered proteins; Protein-protein interactions; Disorder-to-order transition; Rate-limiting transition state; Ф-value analysis; NMR relaxation; Side-chain dynamics; Backbone dynamics; Conformational entropy change; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Intrinsically disordered proteins and regions (IDPs/Rs) are proteins that do not form stable and well-defined structures in their free states but rather occupy an ensemble of conformations that change over time while still staying functional. They are prevalent in the eukaryotic proteome and are involved in various vital processes in the cell where they often interact with their binding partners through coupled binding and folding reactions. 4. 4. Mechanistic studies on the repression of cellular reaction to hypoxia as cause for chronic complications in diabetes

    Författare :Sofie Eliasson Angelstig; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes Mellitus is an ongoing epidemic, causing individual suffering as well as constituting an enormous burden to society and healthcare systems globally. Much of diabetes-associated morbidity and mortality are caused by chronic diabetes complications, for which there today is no specific treatment due to an incomplete understanding of the underlying disease mechanisms. 5. 5. Hypoxia and differentiation in human neuroblastoma cells

    Författare :Helén Nilsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ontogeny; embryology human ; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryologi människa ; teratology; cytogenetik; Development biology; cytogenetics; Genetik; Genetics; Medicin människa och djur ; HIF; Medicine human and vertebrates ; MYCN; Hypoxia; differentiation; Neuroblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : The childhood tumour neuroblastoma is derived from immature cells of the sympathetic nervous system, which have become arrested at different maturation stages. Neuroblastoma is a malignancy with a high degree of heterogeneity, and there is a correlation between a poor differentiation status and a more aggressive phenotype. LÄS MER
