1. Electrical Bioimpedance Cerebral Monitoring : From Hypothesis and Simulation to First Experimental Evidence in Stroke Patients
Sammanfattning : Stroke is amongthe leading causes of death worldwide and requires immediate care to prevent death or permanent disability. Unfortunately, the current stateof stroke diagnosis is limited to fixed neuroimaging facilities that do not allow rapid stroke diagnosis. LÄS MER
2. Online power transformer diagnostics using multiple modes of microwave radiation
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, we propose and investigate a new approach to diagnose the effects of the various degradation mechanisms, including thermal degradation at hot spots, winding deformations due to the mechanical forces from short circuit currents, partial discharges due to local electric field surges, and increased moisture levels in the cellulose insulation due to decomposition, that affect electric power transformers during their normal operation in an electric power grid.Although the proposed diagnostics method can in principle be used to detect various degradation mechanisms mentioned above, we focus in the present thesis on mechanical deformations of transformer winding structures. 3. Some Aspects of Advanced Technologies and Signal Integrity Issues in High Frequency PCBs, with Emphasis on Planar Transmission Lines and RF/Microwave Filters
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is placed on high frequency PCB signal Integrity Is-sues and RF/Microwave filters using EBG structures. From the signal Integrity aspect, two topics were mainly discussed. LÄS MER
4. Physical capacity, physical activity and skeletal muscle in heart failure : studies of pathophysiology
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to provide a better understanding of the pathophysiology of heart failure (HF), especially to explore possible mechanistic links between the failing heart and the periphery, as well as to explore variables with possible prognostic utilisation. In Study I we asked if the degree of variability in physical activity (PA) could hold prognostic value. LÄS MER
