2. Production of photoneutron beams and radionuclides by photonuclear reactions using a 50 MeV racetrack microtron
Sammanfattning : The feasibility of using electrons accelerated by a 50 MeV racetrack microtron to generate a mixed beam of neutrons and photons for radiation therapy and for production of radionuclides has been investigated. To develop target systems for these purposes the angular distribution and yield of bremsstrahlung from different targets have been studied theoretically. 3. Preoperative radiotherapy in rectal cancer : aspects on fractionation and timing of surgery
Sammanfattning : Neo-adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) in rectal cancer (RC) reduces the risk for local recurrence (LR). The optimal fractionation or time to surgery is not determined. The focus areas of this thesis are different RT-courses and timing of surgery in patients with RC. The Stockholm III trial forms the basis of the studies included in the thesis. LÄS MER
