  1. 1. Robust Water Balance Modeling with Uncertain Discharge and Precipitation Data : Computational Geometry as a New Tool

    Författare :José-Luis Guerrero; Sven Halldin; Stefan Uhlenbrook; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha shape; Convex hull; Depth function; Discharge; Hydrological models; Honduras; Model calibration; Parameter-value estimation; Precipitation; Rating curve; Robust; Robustness; Uncertainty estimation; Water resources.; Alfaform; avbördningskurva; djupfunktion; Honduras; hydrologiska modeller; konvext hölje; modellkalibrering; nederbörd; osäkerhetsskattning; parametervärdesskattning; robust; robusthet; vattenföring; vattenresurser; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Models are important tools for understanding the hydrological processes that govern water transport in the landscape and for prediction at times and places where no observations are available. The degree of trust placed on models, however, should not exceed the quality of the data they are fed with. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Supporting human activity performance using argumentation-based technology

    Författare :Esteban Guerrero Rosero; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim for the research presented in this thesis is to develop theories, methods and technology which can detect, represent and evaluate purposeful human activity based on information, which is inconsistent, incomplete and which includes information about an individual's needs, goals and motives. The purpose is to provide instruments to the fields of assistive technology and ambient assisted living, which have the potentials to advance the treatment of semantic information for the purpose of making decisions and reasoning about complex human activity in daily life. 3. 3. Images of Work and Love : The Dynamics of Economy and Emotions on the Big Screen in Sweden and Mexico 1930–1955

    Författare :Rosalía Guerrero Cantarell; Orsi Husz; Maths Isacson; Ann Ighe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Work; Romantic Love; Modernity; Emotional capital; Worthiness; Respectability; Ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the intertwinement of economy and emotions within the context of modernity. By investigating how work and romantic love interact in fiction films from the period 1930 to 1955, I seek to shed light on how two cultural practices that might normally be assumed to belong to separate dimensions of life – the economic and the emotional – are actually closely connected to each other. 4. 4. Experimental Evaluation of a Microwave Imaging System for Muscle Rupture Detection

    Författare :Laura Guerrero Orozco; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Injuries to the hamstring muscles are one of the most common injuries in sports such as football, sprinting, and running. Imaging plays a key role in diagnosing and managing athletes with muscle injuries, and particularly magnetic resonance imaging is usually required to diagnose muscle ruptures. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Representing and Reasoning about Complex Human Activities - an Activity-Centric Argumentation-Based Approach

    Författare :Esteban Guerrero Rosero; Helena Lindgren; Juan Carlos Nieves; Chris Reed; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex activity; Argumentation Theory; Activity Theory; Logic programming; Knowledge representation; Common-sense reasoning; Artificial Intelligence; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to develop theories and formal methods to endow a computing machinery with capabilities to identify, represent, reason and evaluate complex activities that are directed by an individual’s needs, goals, motives, preferences and environment, information which can be inconsistent and incomplete.Current methods for formalising and reasoning about human activity are typically limited to basic actions, e.
