1. GNSS hardware biases in code and carrier phase observables
Sammanfattning : GNSS hardware biases appear in code and phase observations, and originates both from the receiver and satellite hardware. The presence of biases in GNSS observations might affect the accuracy in precise GNSS positioning applications, and might also be of relevance in other GNSS applications. LÄS MER
2. Simulation of rail traffic : applications with timetable construction and delay modelling
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers both applications where simulation is used on parts of the Swedish rail networks and running time calculations for future high-speed trains with top speed improvements on existing lines. Calculations are part of a subproject within the Green Train research program (Gröna tåget). LÄS MER
3. Gene dose imbalances in children with mental retardation
Sammanfattning : Submicroscopic chromosome aberrations can cause mental retardation (MR), congenital malformations and miscarriage. It is difficult to estimate the contribution of cytogenetic abnormalities to MR because of relatively low detection sensitivity of conventional cytogenetic methods used in the diagnostic setting. 4. Photoplethysmographic heart and respiratory rate monitoring : instrument design and evaluation
Sammanfattning : A new optical heart and respiratory rate monitor utilising the photoplethysmographic (PPG) signal is presented. The PPG method, first developed in the 1930s, is based on the fact that incident light to the skin surface is absorbed, scattered and reflected in tissue and blood. 5. Patient with cancer : their preferences and experiences of participation in treatment and care decisions
Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis was to investigate preferences for participating in treatment decision-making in patients with colorectal cancer before treatment and at a one-year followup and to compare the relationship between these preferences and coping factors. An additional aim was to explore the patients' meaning of illness and their experiences of decision-making concerning treatment and care. LÄS MER
