1. Managing Service Levels in Grid Computing Systems : Quota Policy and Computational Market Approaches
Sammanfattning : We study techniques to enforce and provision differentiated service levels in Computational Grid systems. The Grid offers simplified provisioning of peak-capacity for applications with computational requirements beyond local machines and clusters, by sharing resources across organizational boundaries. 2. Millimetre wave waveguide enclosed grid frequency multipliers and imaging
Sammanfattning : The utilisation of the THz spectrum ( 0.3-10 THz ) is hampered by fundamental difficulties in generating power at these frequencies. LÄS MER
3. Off the grid
Sammanfattning : Off the grid is an artistic research thesis which puts a Swedish housing estate in a video interview dialogue with homeowners in the Northeastern US through focusing on three topics: travel, self-definition, and community. Based on the situated, visual and conceptual image the project merges seemingly incompatible experiences: eight residents in Husby, an immigrant community outside Stockholm, and eight households not connected to the utility grid, in upstate areas of New England and New York State – and two artistic researchers at University of Gothenburg. 4. Sustainability of rural energy access in developing countries
Sammanfattning : The importance of access to modern energy has been well understood by governments and donor agencies in many developing countries, and significant effort has been made in recent years to address energy access challenges. However, despite these efforts, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has predicted that the energy access problem will remain unresolved by 2030. LÄS MER
5. The social power grid : The role of institutions for decentralizing the electricity grid
Sammanfattning : The world’s existing electricity grids face several challenges if they are to continue to provide a stable supply in the future. Aging electricity grids and the massive implementation of renewable sources require a different flexibility and robustness of future grids. LÄS MER
