6. Contribution of stormwater ponds for road runoff to aquatic biodiversity
Sammanfattning : The increased recognition that roads may impair the aquatic environment and ecosystems has led to a shift from conventional drainage systems toward blue-green solutions such as stormwater ponds. Research on blue-green stormwater solutions has until now mainly focused on water quantity and quality. LÄS MER
7. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective
Sammanfattning : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates. 8. Geographic Information Systems as a tool to support monitoring and assessment of landscape and regional sustainability
Sammanfattning : New policies in Sweden about intensive forestry and functional green infrastructure require involvement of different sectors for planning of landscapes and regions. However, Sweden has no territorial land-use planning at these spatial scales. LÄS MER
9. Intensification of wood production in NW Russia's Komi Republic : forest landscape history and biophysical conditions for tree growth
Sammanfattning : Globally, countries with forests and woodlands make attempts to manage their resources in sustainable way. In the boreal biome this has resulted in several policy documents regulating forest planning and operations at multiple levels of governance. LÄS MER
10. A Data-centric Internet of Things Framework Based on Public Cloud
Sammanfattning : The pervasive application of Internet of Things (IoT) has been seen in many aspects in human daily life and industrial production. The concept of IoT originates from traditional machine-to-machine (M2M) communications which aimed at solving domain-specific and applicationspecific problems. LÄS MER
