1. Properties and applications of materials based on graphite oxide
Sammanfattning : Graphite oxide (GO) is a hydrophilic, layered material prepared by oxidation of graphite. In the first part of this thesis, we studied materials produced from GO by intercalation and functionalization. The second part of the thesis was focused on supercapacitor applications of high surface area carbons prepared from GO using chemical activation. LÄS MER
2. Graphite oxides for preparation of graphene related materials : structure, chemical modification and hydrogen storage properties
Sammanfattning : Carbon materials have been studied for hydrogen storage for decades, but they showed too low capacity at ambient temperature compared to target values for practical applications. This thesis includes two parts. First one is fundamental study of graphite oxides (GO) structure and properties. LÄS MER
3. Thermal and Photon Driven Reactions of NO and H2O Adsorbed on Graphite
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the interaction of water (H2O) and nitric oxide (NO) with the graphite (C(0001)) surface. Specifically the effects of coadsorbing metals (Na, Ag) and subjecting the adsorption systems to thermal and photon activation were studied. LÄS MER
4. Materials prepared using graphite oxides : properties and applications
Sammanfattning : Graphite oxides are hydrophilic materials, which have attracted a lot of attention due to unique properties and possible applications. The current thesis includes studies of fundamental properties and applications of graphite oxides as well as materials prepared from graphite oxides such as graphene oxide membranes, defect-rich graphite oxide, reduced graphene oxide and activated reduced graphene oxide. 5. Thermal and Photon Stimulated Reactions on Metal Particles
Sammanfattning : The interaction between molecules and solid surfaces influence our daily lives in many ways. One important example is heterogeneous catalysis where surface reactions, for example, are used for production of chemicals and exhaust after-treatment. LÄS MER
