16. On the Road to Graphene Biosensors
Sammanfattning : Biosensors are devices that detect biological elements and then transmit a readable signal. Biosensors can automatize diagnostics that would otherwise have to be performed by a physician or perhaps not be possible to perform at all. Current biosensors are however either limited to particular diseases or prohibitively expensive. LÄS MER
17. Graphene: Applications in Surface Science Studies
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses how graphene can be a valuable asset for surface science studies. Using a combination of X- ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, and low-energy electron diffraction, we take advantage of graphene’s sensitivity to changes in its chemical environment to obtain an atomic scale understanding of different reactions occurring above and below the film. 18. Epitaxial Graphene Technology for Quantum Metrology
Sammanfattning : Graphene grown on silicon carbide by high-temperature annealing (SiC/G) is a strong contender in the race towards large-scale graphene electronics applications. The unique electronic properties of this system lead to a remarkably robust and accurate Hall resistance quantisation of 0. LÄS MER
19. Enabling technologies for scalable graphene electronics
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the challenges in scaling up graphene-based technologies, with a focus on the epitaxial growth of graphene (epigraphene) over SiC substrates and the establishment of reliable low-contact resistance electrical contacts. The scalable graphene growth and contact fabrication have enabled the development of three epigraphene-based devices, including large-scale Quantum Hall Arrays, highly sensitive Hall effect magnetometers with minimal noise, and quantum-limited ultraviolet (UV) detectors. 20. Towards graphene-based devices: Fabrication and characterization
Sammanfattning : Graphene is a new material with a large set of impressive properties, interesting both for fundamental studies and applications. Reliable synthesis of large-scale, high-quality graphene is key to its future success. LÄS MER
