6. Genetics of Tetrapyrrole Synthesis in Gram-Positive Bacteria
Sammanfattning : The organization and regulation of genes for tetrapyrrole synthesis were studied in low G+C Gram-positive bacteria. Clusters of genes encoding enzymes for tetrapyrrole biosynthesis were cloned from Bacillus sphaericus, Bacillus stearothermophilus, Brevibacillus brevis and Paenibacillus macerans. LÄS MER
7. Engineering of staphylococcal surfaces for biotechnological applications
Sammanfattning : The engineering of bacterial surfaces has in recent yearsattracted a lot of attention with applications in manydifferent areas of bioscience. Here we describe the use of twodifferent surface display systems for the gram-positivebacteria Staphylococcus carnosus and Staphylococcus xylosus invarious biotechnological applications. LÄS MER
8. Studies on Haemproteins of Gram-positive Bacteria - Implications as Antibacterial Drug Targets
Sammanfattning : With the discovery of antibiotics, several diseases that were previously lethal is today readily cured, or so we thought. Some degree of resistance to one or several antibiotics can be found among many strains of clinical important bacteria. LÄS MER
9. Staphylococcal surface display for protein engineering and characterization
Sammanfattning : Even though our understanding of mechanisms such as protein folding and molecular recognition is relatively poor, antibodies and alternative affinity proteins with entirely novel functions are today generated in a routine manner. The reason for this success is an engineering approach generally known as directed evolution. LÄS MER
10. On the development of low level resistance in gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria after antibiotic exposure
Sammanfattning : Resistance has been found to develop and spread via several mechanisms against virtually all clinically available antimicrobial agents. Increasing use of antibiotics has been shown to correlate to increasing incidence of bacterial resistance. LÄS MER
