11. Management of Ischemia and Brain Death-Associated Injuries in Porcine Kidney Grafts
Sammanfattning : Organs from deceased donors after brain death (BD) remain the major source of organs for transplantation. The catastrophic event of BD and the inevitable consequences of ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) are linked to impaired graft quality and transplantation outcome. LÄS MER
12. Bone Healing after implantation of bone substitute materials. Experimental studies in estrogen deficiency
Sammanfattning : Bone formation and bone healing were studied in the mandible, tibia and skull bones in adult, healthy and estrogen deficient rabbits implanted with different bone substitutes. In the first study an evaluation of the differences in bone regeneration in and around solid (Alveograf *) and porous hydroxyapatite (Interpore 200*) was undertaken. 13. Spinal cord grafts : interaction with cografts and effects of trophic factors
Sammanfattning : Spinal cord injury is common in the modern society, often afflicts young individuals, and often has devastating consequences. The present work studies possibilities to obtain better conditions for regeneration of the transected spinal cord in rats, conditions under which spinal cord grafts are able to establish structural and functional connections with "natural" targets, and effects of a series of neurotrophic factors on spinal cord graft survival and growth. 14. Immunological and Inflammtory Responses against Intrastriatal Neural Grafts in the Rat
Sammanfattning : Intracerebral neural transplantation offers a new strategy to combat Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. However, a host immune response against a histoincompatible neural graft in the brain may jeopardize transplant survival. LÄS MER
15. Outcome and bone grafts in surgical treatment of cervical disc disease : A clinical evaluation using MRI, radiostereometry and measurements of microcirculation and the quality of life
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the outcome after surgical treatment of cervical disc disease and the influence of different bone grafting methods.192 patients were studied, of which 149 were treated surgically. LÄS MER
