  1. 1. On healing of titanium implants in iliac crest bone grafts

    Författare :Mats Sjöström; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Christian Lindqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Edentulous atrophic maxilla; Autogenous bone graft; Endosteal implants; Microimplants; Resonance frequency analysis; Implant survival; Graft volume changes; Kirurgi; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Bone grafts and titanium implants are commonly used for surgical/prosthetic rehabilitation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla. The factors which influence bone graft healing and implant integration are not sufficiently understood. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Intra-oral soft tissue expansion and volume stability of onlay bone grafts

    Författare :Peter Abrahamsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Implantat är idag en väl etablerad behandlingsform. I många fallfinns dock inte tillräckligt med käkben för att på ett optimalt sättkunna rekonstruera patientens bett såväl ur funktionell som estetisksynpunkt. I dessa fall används olika tekniker för att tillförakäkben. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Imaging Islets of Langerhans by Positron Emission Tomography : Quantification of Beta-Cell Mass in the Native Pancreas and the Islet Graft

    Författare :Olof Eriksson; Anders Sundin; Olle Korsgren; Bengt Långström; Bo Nilsson; Håkan Ahlström; Habib Zaidi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Positron Emission Tomography; [18F]FDG; dihydrotetrabenazine; Islet transplantation; IBMIR; beta-cell mass; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Mellitus are a growing health problem throughout the world. There is an increasing  need for methodologies, which are both reliable and non-invasive to measure the amount of insulin-producing tissue (Beta-cell mass, or BCM), as well as rapidly quantify changes in the BCM due to the onset of disease, beta-cell replacement therapy, or other treatments. 4. 4. Lung function after cardiac surgery : With special reference to atelectasis and ventilation-perfusion relationships

    Författare :Arne Tenling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Cardiac surgery; thoracic epidural analgesia; vital capacity manoeuvre; computed tomography; ventilation-perfusion relationships; gas exchange; atelectasis; respiratory inductive plethysmography; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Patients undergoing cardiac surgery were investigated before and after the operation.Ventilation-perfusion (VA/Q) relationships were examined by the multiple inert gas elimination method, and atelectasis and aeration of the lungs were examined by computedtomography (CT). 5. 5. In vivo regulation of pancreatic beta cell function

    Författare :Pim Pieter van Krieken; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreatic beta cells within the islets of Langerhans contribute to the regulation of glucose homeostasis by secretion of insulin, a hormone that stimulates the uptake of glucose by liver, muscle and fat tissue. In response to variations in insulin demand, the beta cell population can adapt by (1) changing the total beta cell mass, and (2) modulating the functional capacity of individual beta cells. LÄS MER
