11. Occupation-based evaluation and intervention : validity of the assessment of motor and process skills when used with persons with mental retardation
Sammanfattning : The ability to perform everyday life occupations is a critical component in both evaluation and intervention for persons with mental retardation (MR). While the ability to perform personal and instrumental activities of daily living (ADL) has always been important for occupational therapy (OT) practice, there is an absence in OT literature and research with a focus on ADL and persons with MR. 12. Numerical Modelling and Statistical Analysis of Ocean Wave Energy Converters and Wave Climates
Sammanfattning : Ocean wave energy is considered to be one of the important potential renewable energy resources for sustainable development. Various wave energy converter technologies have been proposed to harvest the energy from ocean waves. This thesis is based on the linear generator wave energy converter developed at Uppsala University. LÄS MER
13. Novel methods for dose-response meta-analysis
Sammanfattning : Dose–response meta-analysis is a statistical procedure for combining and contrasting the evidence on the association between a continuous exposure and the risk of a health outcome. Different papers refined selected aspects of the methodology, such as implementation of flexible strategies and extensions to multivariate meta-analysis. LÄS MER
14. Change point detection with respect to variance
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines a simple method for detecting a change with respect to the variance in a sequence of independent normally distributed observations with a constant mean. The method filters out observations with extreme values and divides the sequence into equally large subsequences. LÄS MER
15. 3D modelling of epidermal nerve fiber patterns
Sammanfattning : Neuropathical disorders, such as diabetic neuropathy, damage the nerve structure in the epidermis. This thesis presents statistical analyses and models for the epidermal nerve fibers (ENFs). The main objective is to improve our understanding regarding the three dimensional ENF structure and for this purpose, stochastic models are constructed. LÄS MER
