  2. 22. N-linked glycosylation of HIV-1 and Hantaan virus glycoproteins. Implications for vaccination and therapy

    Författare :Eric Rowcliffe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Enveloped viruses have a great advantage comparedto the non-enveloped viruses due to theirability to acquire not only a host membrane butalso host-specific glycosylation of their surfaceglycoproteins. These carbohydrate structures,mainly of the N-linked glycan class, have a lowimmunogenicity and this feature enables envelopedviruses to keep a low profile towards theimmune system by shielding crucial epitopesfrom antibody recognition. 3. 23. Interaction-mediating sequences within class I viral fusion glycoproteins : their roles in viral infection and in applications

    Författare :Simin Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Class I viral fusion glycoproteins facilitate fusion of the viral envelope with cell membranes and entry of the virus into the cell, through extensive short sequence-specific interactions. Regions mediating these interactions include the N-terminal hydrophobic fusion peptide, a pair of extended 4,3-hydrophobic heptad repeats (HRs), a membrane-active membrane proximal external region (MPER), a hydrophobic transmembrane domain and the cytoplasmic tail region. 4. 24. Mapping the Golgi retention signal in the G1 membrane glycoprotein of Uukuniemi virus, a member of the Bunyaviridae family

    Författare :Agneta M Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Golgi complex; retention signal; protein transport; virus membrane glycoproteins; virus budding; Uukuniemi virus; Phlebovirus; Bunyaviridae;

    Sammanfattning : Newly synthesized secretory and integral membrane proteins destined for the plasma membrane are transported along the exocytic pathway from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via the Golgi complex (GC) to the cell surface. Some of the transported proteins contain information, which target them to their correct intracellular locations. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Targeting the human glycoproteome: new enrichment protocols and mass spectrometric analyses reveal unique and novel glycosylation sites

    Författare :Adnan Halim; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glycobiology; Glycoproteomics; Mass Spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : Glycosylation is one of the most common and structurally diverse posttranslational modifications of proteins. Given that protein glycosylation is involved in various cellular processes, the characterization of site-specific N- and O-linked glycosylations is becoming increasingly important. However, current mass spectrometry-based technologies, i.e. LÄS MER
