  1. 6. Synthesis of Conformationally Restricted Oligosaccharides

    Författare :Michael Wilstermann; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streptococcus suis; E. coli; neoglycolipid; ganglioside-lactam; xylose; methylene acetal; sialic acid; Conformational Restriction; galabiose; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Gangliosides are sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipids that often are present in increased amounts on tumor cells. Since the gangliosides are hydroxy-acids, they can form lactones. The lactones have been suspected to be more immunogenic than the open forms, but are in practise poor immunogens due to their ease of hydrolysis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. iNKT cell regulation of B cell activation in inflammation

    Författare :Thomas Landgraff Hägglöf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to combat infections through the generation of specific immune responses is critical to our survival. The immune system can react to and combat virtually any molecule presented to it, including those derived from our own body. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Studies on pneumococcal polysaccharides and their effect on immune cells

    Författare :Marianne Sundberg Kövamees; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Streptococcus pneumoniae is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children and adults worldwide. The spectrum of infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae is well-characterized. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Binding and immunogenicity of MHC class-I specific peptides and glycopeptides

    Författare :Ussama M Abdel-Motal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Short synthetic MHC class I (MHC-I) Db and Kb binding peptides were found to be strongly immunogenic and capable of inducing virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses. Restimulation of primed splenocytes with a low peptide concentration generated optimal CTL responses. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Gastrointestinal norovirus infections and the development of the next generation of mucosal vaccines

    Författare :Inga Rimkute; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human norovirus; gastrointestinal infection; mucosal vaccine; subcomponent vaccine; human intestinal enteroids; histo-blood group antigens; lipidomics; glycoproteomics; glycosphingolipids;

    Sammanfattning : Human norovirus (HuNoV) is the causative agent of the winter vomiting disease and the leading cause of outbreaks of gastrointestinal infections across all settings and age groups in the world. The virus is highly contagious making outbreaks difficult or often impossible to control and having a high impact on societal costs and resources. LÄS MER
