  1. 11. Towards Defence In Depth In Diabetes Glucose Self-Management

    Författare :Fredrik Ståhl; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diabetes; model; insulin action; postprandial glucose;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes is a disease characterized by insufficient capacity to regulate the blood glucose level. In insulin-dependent diabetes, multiple daily injections of insulin have to be administered. In-between scheduled visits to the care provider, the patient has to manage the glucose control independently. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Diabetes Mellitus Glucose Prediction by Linear and Bayesian Ensemble Modeling

    Författare :Fredrik Ståhl; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diabetes; Glucose Prediction; Identification; Ensemble Prediction;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease of impaired blood glucose control due to degraded or absent bodily-specific insulin production, or utilization. To the affected, this in many cases implies relying on insulin injections and blood glucose measurements, in order to keep the blood glucose level within acceptable limits. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Peripheral Hypoglycaemic Neuropathy in Type 1 Diabetic Rats : Morphologic and Metabolic Studies

    Författare :Reza Jamali; Simin Mohseni; Claes Hildebrand; Håkan Aldskugius; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes Mellitu; Hypoglycaemia; Neuropathy; Morphology; Microdialysis; Glucose level; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hyperglycaemia caused by insulin deficiency is believed to play a major role in the de-velopment of neuropathy in diabetic patients. The clinical and pathological features of diabetic neuropathy vary considerably, although sensory and autonomic dysfunctions are the most common characteristics. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Islet insulin secretory patterns in diabetes and the role of UCP2

    Författare :Jian-Man Lin; Valdemar Grill; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; type 1 diabetes; type 2 diabetes; NOD; GK; congenes; KKAy; human; islet; glucose; insulin release; oscillation; frequency; amplitude; oxidation; respiration; UCP2; western blot; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : During development of type 1 and type 2 diabetes plasma insulin patterns are altered. Since the islet insulin release pattern has been implicated in this development, insulin secretion from single islets was studied and linked to the islet protein levels of uncoupling protein-2 (UCP2). 5. 15. Disturbed Islet Function and Alterations in Islet Protein Expression

    Författare :Henrik Ortsäter; Peter Bergsten; Franz Schuit; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; islet; glucose; oleate; corticosterone; oxygen tension; insulin release; protein profiling; Clark-like electrodes; SELDI-TOF MS; PPI-B; 11β-HSD1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreatic β-cells sense the concentration of glucose in the systemic circulation through metabolism of the sugar molecule. Failure to correlate the blood sugar concentration to an appropriate metabolic signal disrupts the function of the β-cell as a controller of glucose homeostasis and may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
