11. Extraction of polymeric rapeseed straw hemicelluloses for renewable films
Sammanfattning : Polymeric hemicelluloses with high molecular weight were extracted from rapeseed straw with a straight forward hydrothermal extraction method, evaluated and refined by statistical factorial screening design and ‘severity factor’ analysis. The influence of the extraction conditions, time, temperature and pH of the extraction liquid, on the composition, molecular weight, yield and properties was unveiled. LÄS MER
12. Towards Understanding the Pelletizing Process of Biomass : Perspectives on Energy Efficiency and Pelletability of Pure Substances
Sammanfattning : The use of fossil resources has to decrease and the use of renewable resources has to increase significantly to mitigate the climate change. In this change towards more renewable resources, biomasses will play an important role, both for energy use and for products. LÄS MER
13. Lignin polysaccharide networks in softwood and chemical pulps : characterisation, structure and reactivity
Sammanfattning : The chemical interactions between the main wood components i.e., cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin are of fundamental importance for understanding the chemical aspects of wood formation and its reactivity during fibre processing e.g during chemical pulping of wood. LÄS MER
14. Discovery and investigation of glycoside hydrolase family 5 enzymes with potential use in biomass conversion
Sammanfattning : Glycoside hydrolases (GHs) cleave glycosidic bonds in glycoconjugates, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides such as cellulose and various hemicelluloses. Mannan is a major group of hemicelluloses. LÄS MER
15. Structure and function studies of GH45 glycoside hydrolases
Sammanfattning : The enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic material in nature is carried out by a plethora of cellulases. Glycoside hydrolase family 45 (GH45) enzymes are small cellulases most commonly found in fungi that catalyse the hydrolysis of β(1→4) linked glucans. LÄS MER
