  1. 1. Properties of the glomerular endothelial cell surface layer in vitro and in vivo

    Författare :Vincent Fridén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Glomerular filtration; Glomerular endothelial cell surface layer; Proteinuria; Proteoglycans; glycocalyx; glycosaminoglycans; glomerular endothelial cells; permselectivity and glomerular endothelial cell coat;

    Sammanfattning : A healthy kidney produces final urine that is practically devoid of proteins and other physiologically important solutes. Tremendous amounts of fluid are filtered every day through the glomerular filtration barrier which is the actual sieving site in the kidney. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Endogenous proteins as markers of glomerular function and dysfunction

    Författare :Jan Tencer; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glomerular filter; amyloidosis; glomerulonephritis; glomerular disease; proteins; proteinuria; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma and urine concentrations of endogenous proteins are frequently used in the diagnosis of kidney diseases and in studies of glomerular filter function. The main issues addressed in these studies were: storage of urine samples for subsequent protein analysis, use of protein concentrations in urine and in plasma in health and as markers of glomerular diseases, and the application of renal plasma-to-urine clearance of endogenous proteins in estimating the size-selectivity properties of the glomerular capillary wall. 3. 3. A Study of Renal Function in Children with Cancer

    Författare :Lars Hjorth; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; Pediatri; nefrologi; Urologi; nephrology; Urology; children; sequelae; pediatric oncology; chemotherapy; renal toxicity; malignancy; hyperfiltration; iohexol clearance; glomerular filtration rate; kidney disease; Glomerular proteinuria; tubular proteinuria;

    Sammanfattning : Evaluation of long-term side effects of treatment is important due to the growing number of childhood cancer survivors. How kidney function is affected over time needs to be clarified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physiological and morphological aspects of the glomerular barrier in health and disease. Results based on experimental studies in the rat

    Författare :Clara Hjalmarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :glomerular permeability; isolated perfused kidney; charge; endothelial surface layer; glycocalyx; electron microscopy; orosomucoid; nephrotic syndrome; proteinuria;

    Sammanfattning : Tremendous amounts of fluid are filtered every day through the kidneys. The anastomosing capillary loops surrounded by Bowman s capsule, forming the glomerulus, function in accordance with the interplay between the hydrostatic and the colloid osmotic pressure. The result of the action of these mechanisms is the production of primary urine. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Permeability of the glomerular filtration barrier in relation to the size, shape, charge and deformability of the permeating molecules

    Författare :Daniel Asgeirsson; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteinuria; capillary physiology; peritoneal membrane; dialysis; microalbuminuria; cardiovascular; endothelial dysfunction; diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : Characterization of the glomerular filtration barrier is of fundamental importance for understanding the pathophysiology of proteinuric kidney diseases. Furthermore, it can be of key value in the understanding of microalbuminuria, which is often associated with endothelial dysfunction in conjunction with cardiovascular disease. LÄS MER
