  1. 1. Global-Scale Modelling of the Land-Surface Water Balance : Development and Analysis of WASMOD-M

    Författare :Elin Widén-Nilsson; Sven Halldin; Chong-yu Xu; Lars-Christer Lundin; Jens Christian Refsgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hydrology; Global; Water balance; Runoff; Regionalisation; Model uncertainty; Multi-objective; Parameter; Evaluation criteria; Routing; Climate change; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Water is essential for all life on earth. Global population increase and climate change are projected to increase the water stress, which already today is very high in many areas of the world. The differences between the largest and smallest global runoff estimates exceed the highest continental runoff estimates. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Water is essential for human well-being and healthy ecosystems, but population growth and changes in climate and land-use are putting increased stress on water resources in many regions. To ensure water security, knowledge about the spatiotemporal distribution of these resources is of great importance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Monotonicity formulas and applications in free boundary problems

    Författare :Anders Edquist; Henrik Shahgholian; Wolfgang Reichel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Partial differential equations; PDE; Free boundary problems; Monotonicity formulas; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers devoted to the study of monotonicity formulas and their applications in elliptic and parabolic free boundary problems. The first paper concerns an inhomogeneous parabolic problem. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Homogenization of Some Selected Elliptic and Parabolic Problems Employing Suitable Generalized Modes of Two-Scale Convergence

    Författare :Jens Persson; Anders Holmbom; Liselott Flodén; Marianne Lindberg; Mårten Gulliksson; Peter Wall; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; H-convergence; G-convergence; homogenization; multiscale analysis; two-scale convergence; multiscale convergence; elliptic partial differential equations; parabolic partial differential equations; monotone operators; heterogeneous media; non-periodic media; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to the homogenization of certain elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations by means of appropriate generalizations of the notion of two-scale convergence. Since homogenization is defined in terms of H-convergence, we desire to find the H-limits of sequences of periodic monotone parabolic operators with two spatial scales and an arbitrary number of temporal scales and the H-limits of sequences of two-dimensional possibly non-periodic linear elliptic operators by utilizing the theories for evolution-multiscale convergence and λ-scale convergence, respectively, which are generalizations of the classical two-scale convergence mode and custom-made to treat homogenization problems of the prescribed kinds. 5. 5. Properties of wave-front sets and non-tangential convergence

    Författare :Karoline Johansson; Joachim Toft; Luigi Rodino; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fourier Banach spaces; Generalized free time-dependent Schrödinger equation; Micro-local; Modulation spaces; Non-tangential convergence; Pseudo-differential operators; Regularity; Wave-front sets.; Mathematical analysis; Analys; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we consider regularity properties for solutions to partial differential equations and pseudo-differential equations. The thesis mainly concerns wave-front sets and micro-local properties. LÄS MER
