1. Eating disorders : Prevalence, incidence, and prospective risk factors for eating disorders among young adult women in the general population
Sammanfattning : Eating disorders (ED) constitute a significant source of psychiatric morbidity and are an important public health concern in Western societies. Knowledge about risk factors for ED is crucial for early detection and implementation of preventive interventions. LÄS MER
2. ROR1 – a druggable target : preclinical studies of ROR1 and combinatorial partners in malignancies
Sammanfattning : Cancer cells are masters of adaption, and their ability to sustain proliferative signaling presents a complicated challenge to cancer treatment. Therefore, novel drugs that attack key drivers of cancer cell growth are urgently needed. LÄS MER
3. The interplay between quark and hadronic degrees of freedom and the structure of the proton
Sammanfattning : We study the low-energy sector of the strong interaction which is the least understood part of the Standard Model, the theory that describes the interactions of all known particles. The ideal particles for this study are the proton and the neutron, collectively called the nucleon. LÄS MER
4. HLA predisposition to human papillomavirus induced cervical neoplasia : population based studies from the Västerbotten county in northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Infection with human papillomaviruses (HPV) types 16 and 18 is the major cause of cervical neoplasia. Although a high proportion of cervical cancers (CXCA) harbor HPV genomes, only a small number of women infected with high-risk papillomaviruses develop cervical tumors, suggesting that other environmental and/or genetic factors contribute to cervical carcinogenesis. 5. A supercritical fluids extraction process for the production of drug loaded biodegradable microparticles
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to develop methods suitable for the incorporation of drug substancessuch as proteins into microparticles intended for controlled release. In particular a novel techniquefor the preparation of microparticles using supercritical fluids was investigated. LÄS MER
