  1. 6. Reflection seismic investigation in the Skellefte ore district : A basis for 3D/4D geological modeling

    Författare :Mahdieh Dehghannejad; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Charles Hurich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skellefte district; reflection seismic; mineral exploration; 3D 4D modeling; mineralization; faults and shear zones; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The Skellefte ore district in northern Sweden is a Palaeoproterozoic volcanic arc and one of the most important ones hosting volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, producing mainly base metals and orogenic gold deposits. Due to high metal prices and increased difficulties in finding shallow deposits, the exploration for and exploitation of mineral resources is quickly being moved to greater depths. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Efficient Electromagnetic Induction Modelling : Adaptive mesh optimisation, advanced boundary methods and iterative solution techniques

    Författare :Laura M. Buntin; Thomas Kalscheuer; Gunilla Kreiss; Zhengyong Ren; Klaus Spitzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied geophysics; Electromagnetic theory; Numerical Modelling; Geo-Electromagnetics; Magnetotellurics; Controlled-source electromagnetics; Goal-oriented adaptive mesh refinement; Perfectly-matched layers; Iterative solution methods; Preconditioning; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Forward modelling of electromagnetic induction data simulates the electric and magnetic fields within a computational domain for a given distribution of electromagnetic material properties and a given source of the electromagnetic field. The quantities of interest are the fields at receiver locations at the Earth's surface. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Three-dimensional forward modelling and inversion of controlled-source electromagnetic data using the edge-based finite-element method

    Författare :Paula Rulff; Thomas Kalscheuer; Michael Becken; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied geophysics; Controlled-source electromagnetics; Numerical modelling; Finite-element method; Geophysical inversion; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic geophysical methods are applied to investigate anomalous subsurface structures exhibiting contrasts in electrical resistivity, as for example in mineral exploration or geothermal areas. When evaluating electromagnetic data, one big challenge is to account for full three-dimensional measurement setups and subsurface scenarios. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Quantifying the Seismic Response of Underground Structures via Seismic Full Waveform Inversion : Experiences from Case Studies and Synthetic Benchmarks

    Författare :Fengjiao Zhang; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Yanghua Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; full waveform inversion; waveform tomography; CO2 monitoring; CO2 sequestration; time lapse seismic; Inversion; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Seismic full waveform inversion (waveform tomography) is a method to reconstruct the underground velocity field in high resolution using seismic data. The method was first introduced during the 1980’s and became computationally feasible during the late 1990’s when the method was implemented in the frequency domain. LÄS MER
