1. Development of a Detailed Geomorphological Mapping System and GIS Geodatabase in Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method for detailed landscape presentation. The method incorporates both fieldwork-based comprehensive geomorphological description and digital data handling and thus contributes in filling the gap between traditional geomorphological mapping and modern geomorphological studies performed in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 2. Sandgrunnorna in Lule Archipelago : Recent Transformation of a Glaciofluvial Deposit in an Environment of Land Uplift
Sammanfattning : In an area of rapid land uplift the geomorphological evolution of the glaciofluvial island of Sandgrunnorna, 25 km SE Luleå, in the Bothnian Bay, is discussed from old maps, air photographs and field studies. The island were marked on a map for the first time in 1790, but the highest parts can be estimated to have reached the sea surface about 100 years earlier. LÄS MER
3. Artificial neural networks : applications in morphometric and landscape features analysis
Sammanfattning : In this thesis a semi-automatic method is developed to analyze morphometric features and landscape elements based on Self Organizing Map (SOM) as a unsupervised Artificial Neural Network algorithm. Analysis and parameterization of topography into simple and homogenous land elements (landform) can play an important role as basic information in planning processes and environmental modeling. 4. Fjällen i Västerbotten och södra Norrbotten : anmärkningar om geomorfologi och isrecession
Sammanfattning : The results of the study of geomorphology in the Swedish mountains are shown in six maps at a scale of 1:250 000 and in the accompanying map descriptions. The mapping is based on the interpretation of aerial photographs and to some extent on field studies. LÄS MER
5. Retreat pattern and dynamics of glaciers and ice sheets: reconstructions based on meltwater features
Sammanfattning : The pattern of ice marginal retreat during the last deglaciation has, thus far, most frequently been reconstructed using absolute dating methods and landform record. In reconstructions using landform record, meltwater system has most often been neglected. This is predominantly a consequence of the smaller scale of meltwater features. LÄS MER
