  1. 1. Piecewise Linear Control Systems

    Författare :Mikael Johansson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Piecewise quadratic functions; Linear matrix inequalities; Convex optimization; Optimal control; Performance analysis; Piecewise linear Lyapunov functions; Piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions; Quadratic stability; Lyapunov stability; Piecewise linear systems; Nonlinear systems; Fuzzy systems; Hybrid systems.; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats analysis and design of piecewise linear control systems. Piecewise linear systems capture many of the most common nonlinearities in engineering systems, and they can also be used for approximation of other nonlinear systems. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical genetics; quantitative trait loci; genome-wide association study; genomic selection; genetic variance; hierarchical generalized linear model; linear mixed model; random effect; heteroscedastic effects model; variance-controlling genes; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis develops and evaluates statistical methods for different types of genetic analyses, including quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis, genome-wide association study (GWAS), and genomic evaluation. The main contribution of the thesis is to provide novel insights in modeling genetic variance, especially via random effects models. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Generalized linear models with clustered data

    Författare :Henrik Holmberg; Erling Häggström Lundevaller; Göran Broström; Douglas Bates; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In situations where a large data set is partitioned into many relatively small groups, and where the members within a group have some common unmeasured characteristics, the number of parameters requiring estimation tends to increase with sample size if a fixed effects model is applied. This fact causes the assumptions underlying asymptotic results to be violated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Linear Time-Varying Systems: Modeling and Reduction

    Författare :Henrik Sandberg; Anders Rantzer; Alexandre Megretski; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; linear time-varying; model reduction; balanced truncation; error bounds; power converters; harmonics; periodic modeling; inverter locomotive; linear time-varying; model reduction; balanced truncation; error bounds; power converters; periodic modeling; harmonics; inverter locomotive;

    Sammanfattning : Linear time-invariant models are widely used in the control community. They often serve as approximations of nonlinear systems. For control purposes linear approximations are often good enough since feedback control systems are inherently robust to model errors. In this thesis some of the possibilities for linear time-varying modeling are studied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Linear Models of Nonlinear Systems

    Författare :Martin Enqvist; Lennart Ljung; Rik Pintelon; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; linear models; nonlinear systems; system identification; stochastic processes; linearization; mean-square error; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Linear time-invariant approximations of nonlinear systems are used in many applications and can be obtained in several ways. For example, using system identification and the prediction-error method, it is always possible to estimate a linear model without considering the fact that the input and output measurements in many cases come from a nonlinear system.
