  1. 16. Nucleic acid in gene delivery and gene regulation

    Författare :Pedro Moreno; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of gene therapy, initially attributed to a technology that would allow the correction of inherited genetic disease, has evolved over the years. The realization of the immense technical hurdles to achieve genetic correction led to a broadening of the concept now including the transfer of genetic material whose expression will counteract, mitigate or revert a disease phenotype. 2. 17. Plant lipid transfer proteins : Evolution, expression and function

    Författare :Monika Edstam; Johan Edqvist; Kristina Blomqvist; Jenny Hagenblad; Frederica Theodoulou; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The plant non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are known for the ability to transfer different lipids in vitro, but their in vivo functions have not yet been elucidated. They seem to play a role in the defense against biotic and abiotic stresses; the gene expression of nsLTPs is often upregulated when exposed to stresses. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?

    Författare :Aman Zare; Per Stenberg; Yuri B. Schwartz; Åsa Rasmuson-Lestander; Guillaume Filion; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; epigenetics; transcription; gene regulation; transcription maintenance; CBP; polymerase pausing; Polycomb group proteins; transgenerational inheritance of transcriptional response; gut microbiome; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 4. 19. Computational discovery of antibiotic resistance genes and their horizontal transfer

    Författare :David Lund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phylogenetic analysis; Antibiotic resistance; horizontal gene transfer; computational screening;

    Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is increasing among clinical infections and represents one of the most serious threats to public health. Pathogens often become resistant by acquiring mobile antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) via horizontal gene transfer (HGT). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Advancing systems biology of yeast through machine learning and comparative genomics

    Författare :Le Yuan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enzyme turnover number; gene essentiality; horizontal gene transfer; machine learning; deep learning; yeast species;

    Sammanfattning : Synthetic biology has played a pivotal role in accomplishing the production of high value commodities, pharmaceuticals, and bulk chemicals. Fueled by the breakthrough of synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and various other yeasts (such as Yarrowia lipolytica , Pichia pastoris ) have been proven to be promising microbial cell factories and are frequently used in scientific studies.
