11. RhoGTPase Signaling in Cell Polarity and Gene Regulation
Sammanfattning : RhoGTPases are proteins working as molecular switches as they bind and hydrolyze GTP. They are in their active conformation when GTP is bound and are then able to interact with their effector proteins, which relay the downstream signaling. When the GTP is hydrolyzed to GDP, the RhoGTPase is inactivated. LÄS MER
12. Thioredoxins and gene regulation in the Drosophila germline
Sammanfattning : Spermatogenesen är i många organismer en av de mest dramatiska förvandlingar som en cell kan genomgå – en vanlig, rund, diploid cell omvandlas till en nålformad, haploid cell med ett tätt packat cellmaskineri. I bananfluga, Drosophila melanogaster, innebär denna process flera karaktäristiska stadier. LÄS MER
13. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)
Sammanfattning : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor. 14. TARP Promoter-Based Prostate Cancer Gene Therapy : From Development to Application
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is one leading cause of cancer-related death among men in Western countries. The standard therapies for localized prostate cancer include radical prostatectomy and radiation therapy. Such measures are relatively effective in the short term, but many patients ultimately relapse. LÄS MER
15. Systems biology techniques show high prevalence of post-translational regulation in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC 6803
Sammanfattning : Earth's climate has been upset by carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from human activities and the use of fossil resources. To prevent catastrophic events on the environment and on civilizations, we urgently need to develop alternative solutions that utilize renewable resources. LÄS MER
