1. LOAd703 and beyond : Advancing immunostimulatory gene therapy for cancer
Sammanfattning : In the last decade, immunotherapy has come into the limelight of cancer treatments. Immunotherapy aims to stimulate the body’s own immune system to create or reinvigorate anti-tumor immune responses. LÄS MER
2. IDO gene expression induction by DNA methylation inhibitors
Sammanfattning : The aim was to study the effect of DNA methylation of CpG motifs in cancer cells and immune cells by use of the DNA methyltransferas (DNMT) inhibitor zebularine. In cancer cells it is known that genes can be silenced by chromosomal deletion(s). It is also known that genes can be silenced by DNA methylation or expression of micro-RNA. LÄS MER
3. Prognostic markers in acute myeloid leukemia : A candidate gene approach
Sammanfattning : The standard treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) consists of induction chemotherapy, most commonly daunorubicin together with the nucleoside analogue cytarabine (Ara-C), followed by consolidation chemotherapy and in selected cases allogenic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Despite a high initial response rate, a considerable proportion of all AML cases eventually suffer from relapse and the five-year overall survival rate in patients >60 years is only around 15%. 4. Genetic diversity of the heat labile (LT) and heat stable (ST) toxins of human enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC): New insights into polymorphism, regulation, and gene transcription
Sammanfattning : Infection with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a leading cause of diarrhea in children in developing countries and travelers to endemic regions. ETEC is a diverse pathogen, with a wide range of virulence factors including enterotoxins and more than 25 identified colonization factors (CFs). LÄS MER
5. RNA-based mechanisms of chromatin and gene regulation
Sammanfattning : Cells regulate gene expression in a particular spatio-temporal manner by executing specific transcriptional programs. The different transcriptional programs allow the generation of the different cell types in multicellular organisms and mediate particular cellular responses to external cues such as viral infections.
