  1. 21. The Renin Angiotensin System in the Human Esophageal Mucosa − expression, actions and potential involvement in reflux disease

    Författare :Eleonora Björkman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endoscopic biopsies; epithelial electrical current; epithelial electrical resistance; esophageal mucosae; gastroesophageal reflux disease; mucosal barrier integrity; renin angiotensin system;

    Sammanfattning : The renin angiotensin system (RAS) is a classical endocrine system, regulating body fluid balance and blood circulation. Recent research has shown that the system is being also locally expressed and active in several organs and tissues. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Gastrointestinal Manifestations and Pathophysiological Mechanisms in Systemic Sclerosis

    Författare :Karin Franck-Larsson; Anders Rönnblom; Wilhelm Graf; Olof Hallböök; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare systemic, autoimmune disease characterized by vascular changes and fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Patients with SSc more frequently than healthy controls reported upper gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, which was more abundant in the diffuse cutaneous form (dcSSc) of the disease than in the limited (lcSSc). 3. 23. Expression of Islet Amyloid Polypeptide - Localization and regulation in the pancreatic islets, gastrointestinal tract and sensory nervous system

    Författare :Hindrik Mulder; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sekretion; Endokrinologi; diabetologi; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology;

    Sammanfattning : Islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP; also named ”amylin”) is a member of the calcitonin superfamily of peptides, displaying the closest structural relationship to the neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). It is expressed in islet beta-cells and forms islet amyloid in type 2 diabetic patients. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Gastrointestinal motility and the role of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)

    Författare :Oskar Hammar; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gonadotropin releasing hormone; intestinal motility; luteinizing hormone; Sjögrens syndrome; in vitro fertilization;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the relation between gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and gastrointestinal symptoms and dysmotility. In primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS), a patient group with high levels of GnRH antibodies, associations between objective signs and symptoms of autonomic dysfunction (AD), impaired gastric emptying (IGE), and inflammatory and serological features were studied. 5. 25. Investigating the function of Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase

    Författare :Emma Vernersson Lindahl; Bengt Hallberg; Ruth Palmer; Göran Roos; Carina Hellberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALK; nervous system; knockout; development; Jelly-Belly; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) was discovered in 1994, as a chromosomal translocation, t(2;5)(p23;q35), often seen in Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL). Since then ALK has been extensively studied in this disease as well as in different model organisms. LÄS MER
