  1. 16. Genetic Studies of Immunological Diseases in Dogs and Humans

    Författare :Matteo Bianchi; Gerli Rosengren Pielberg; Marta Alarcón-Riquelme; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; complex disease; immunogenetics; autoimmunity; GWAS; NGS; canine model; dog; hypothyroidism; Addison s disease; IFNA; BACH2; Medical Genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents genetic studies aiming at enlarging our knowledge regarding the genetic factors underlying two immune-mediated diseases, hypothyroidism and autoimmune Addison’s disease (AAD), in dogs and humans, respectively.Genetic and environmental factors are indicated to contribute to canine hypothyroidism, which can be considered a model for human Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT). 2. 17. On the Prediction of Warfarin Dose

    Författare :Niclas Eriksson; Mia Wadelius; Lars Wallentin; Lars Berglund; Patrik Magnusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Warfarin; pharmacogenetics; prediction models; Dosing algorithm; GWAS; VKORC1; CYP2C9; Clinical Pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Warfarin is one of the most widely used anticoagulants in the world. Treatment is complicated by a large inter-individual variation in the dose needed to reach adequate levels of anticoagulation i.e. INR 2. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Complex Trait Genetics : Beyond Additivity

    Författare :Simon Forsberg; Örjan Carlborg; Julien Ayroles; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; genetic interactions; epistasis; additivity; GWAS; vGWAS; Genetic mapping; yeast; Arabidopsis Thaliana; dog; Genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The link between the genotype and the phenotype of an organism is immensely complex. Despite this it can, to a great extent, be captured using models that assume that gene variants combine their effects in an additive manner. This thesis explores aspects of genetics that cannot be fully captured using such additive models. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Genetics of complex disease

    Författare :Viktor Henmyr; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :complex disease; allergic rhinitis; Chronic rhinosinusitis; genetics; associations; GWAS; resequencing;

    Sammanfattning : To find true genetic associations in complex diseases, such as allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis, is a difficult task. Both are polygenetic diseases where it is believed that genetic variation in several genes make up their phenotypes. LÄS MER
