21. Blue Oceans with Blue Mussels - Management and planning of mussel farming in coastal ecosystems
Sammanfattning : Eutrophication is one of the largest and most serious global threats to the marine environment. The effect of eutrophication has become increasingly clear during recent time, and major economic and political efforts are being made to tackle its causes and consequences in Sweden and its surrounding seas. 22. Adsorbate Interactions and Growth Morphology
Sammanfattning : The theory of growth has transformed substantially during the past decade. Whereas early theoretical methods were largely empirical, phenomenological, and continuum-based, today's tools include a quantitative, atomistic methodology on a first-principles basis. LÄS MER
23. Forest – stream linkages : Brown trout (Salmo trutta) responses to woody debris, terrestrial invertebrates and light
Sammanfattning : Forests surrounding streams affect aquatic communities in numerous ways, contributing to energy fluxes between terrestrial and lotic ecosystems. The five papers in this thesis focus on woody debris, terrestrial invertebrates and light, three factors influenced by riparian zone structure, potentially affecting streams and brown trout (Salmo trutta). 24. Population ecology of perch (Perca fluviatilis) in boreal lakes
Sammanfattning : I studied the effects of temperature, pH, competition and predation on Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis) in 30 lakes in Norway during 1981-2001. The study lakes were situated in two different areas in southern Norway; four lakes in Aust-Agder county in southernmost Norway were explored during 1981-1984 and 26 lakes in Hedmark county in south-eastern Norway were investigated during 1992-2001. 25. Reactive Sputtering of Cubic-Phase BN:C and Nanostructured B-N-C Films : Growth, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties
Sammanfattning : Synthesis, structure, and mechanical property related issues in the carbon-containing boron nitride (BN:C) system have been studied. Magnetron sputtering, comprising a B4C target in mixed Ar-N2 discharges and deposition parameters of low ion energy, high ion-to-neutral flux ratio, and substrate temperatures ... LÄS MER
