  1. 16. Towards evidence-based classification in para-cycling

    Författare :Johanna Liljedahl; Anton Arndt; Anna Bjerkefors; Carla F J Nooijen; Jan Lexell; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cycling; para sport; Paralympics; performance; impairment; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of classification in Paralympic sport is to minimize the impact of impairment on the outcome of competition. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the impact of different types of impairments on para-cycling performance to develop an evidence-based classification system in the para-cycling C (bicycling) and T (tricycling) divisions. 2. 17. Performance determinants and classification in paracanoe

    Författare :Johanna Rosén; Anna Bjerkefors; Anton Arndt; Vicky Tolfrey; Carl Payton; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; canoe; outrigger; para sport; disability; impairment; Paralympics; kinematics; kinetics; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Valid classification systems are vital for Paralympic sports in order to minimise the impact of impairment on sports performance. To achieve valid classification, each Paralympic sport must develop evidence-based classification systems by examining the impact of impairment on key performance determinants. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Athletic Sprint Start Biomechanics : Investigations into the relationships between three dimensional starting technique, first step width and performance

    Författare :Paul Nicolas Sandamas; Anton Arndt; Elena M. Gutierrez-Farewik; Aki Salo; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sprint start; step width; biomechanics; performance; angular momentum; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The block and early acceleration phase plays a very important role in the overall outcome of athletic sprint events. During this part of the race it is commonly observed that sprinters use a lower-body technique that involves the swing leg crossing medially in front of the athlete followed by wide steps. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Effects of exercise and amino acid intake on mechanisms regulating protein synthesis and breakdown in human muscle

    Författare :Marcus Moberg; Eva Blomstrand; Hans-Christer Holmberg; Jørgen Jensen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Resistance exercise; concurrent exericse; leucine; BCAA; mTORC1 signaling; protein synthesis; MuRF-1; PGC-1alpha; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle adapts differently to specific modes of exercise, where resistance training results in muscle growth and endurance training induces mitochondrial biogenesis. These are results of molecular events that occur after each exercise session, increasing the expression of specific genes and the rate of both synthesis and breakdown of protein. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Sport in youth detention : A “pedagogical” practice?

    Författare :Daniel Roe; Håkan Larsson; Martin Hugo; Rosie Meek; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sport pedagogy; youth justice; youth detention; corrections; pedagogical tact; critical pedagogy; marginalized masculinity; ethnography; football; weightlifting; Sweden; Samhällsvetenskap Humaniora; Social Sciences Humanities;

    Sammanfattning : Sport can be an important part of life inside youth detention, often believed to contribute to the rehabilitation of youth. However, there has been little ethnographic research examining this phenomenon. LÄS MER
