6. Negative regulation of growth hormone (GH) signaling
Sammanfattning : Growth Hormone (GH) regulates postnatal longitudinal growth. It also has several other functions. It decreases cholesterol and lipoproteins levels, reduces fat tissue and increases lean body mass. GH actions are mediated by the JAK2/STAT5 signaling pathway. LÄS MER
7. CNS Targets for GH and IGF-1 : Emphasis on Their Regulation in Relation to Cognitive Processes
Sammanfattning : The interest for the growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor-1 (GH/IGF-1) axis and its role in the central nervous system (CNS) has grown during the past decade. GH has been associated with psychological functions as sleep, mood, general well-being and learning and memory. LÄS MER
8. Experimental studies of growth response to hormonal treatment
Sammanfattning : Statural growth occurs as a result of the collective growth of long bones and the axial skeleton. Linear bone growth occurs at both ends of the bones in a thin cartilaginous structure termed the growth plate, located between the epiphysis and metaphysis. LÄS MER
9. Health-Related Quality of Life and Growth Hormone Treatment : Long-term follow-up studies of women with Turner Syndrome and women with osteoporosis
Sammanfattning : Introduction Growth Hormone (GH) is used to increase height in Turner Syndrome (TS), the most common sex-chromosome aberration in women. GH is also beneficial for bone mass. However, little is known about how GH treatment affects Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). LÄS MER
10. Metabolic responsiveness to growth hormone in children
Sammanfattning : Metabolic effects of growth hormone (GH) therapy in short children have not been clearly established owing to the previous lack of controlled trials studying the metabolic outcome in response to different GH doses despite the known effects of GH on insulin sensitivity, lipid profile, and body composition. It has previously been shown that individualized GH doses during catch-up growth significantly reduce the proportion of unexpectedly good and poor responders around a predefined individual growth target in short prepubertal children.
