  1. 1. IgM and Complement in Regulation of Antibody Responses

    Författare :Anna Sörman; Birgitta Heyman; Michael Holers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; GC responses; feedback regulation; T-cell responses; antigen presentation; complement receptors 1 and 2; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Animals deficient in complement components C1q, C4, C3, and CR1/2 have severely impaired antibody responses. C1q is primarily activated by antibody-antigen complexes. Antigen-specific IgM in complex with an antigen is able to enhance the antibody response against that antigen. This is dependent on the ability of IgM to activate complement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Maturation of humoral immune responses : Studies on the effects of antigen type, apoptosis and age

    Författare :Karin Lindroth; Carmen Fernández; Kenneth G.C. Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunology; B cell; humoral immune response; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : The humoral immune response is dependent on the formation of antibodies. Antibodies are produced by terminally differentiated B cells, plasma cells. Plasma cells are generated either directly from antigen challenged B cells, memory cells or from cells that have undergone the germinal center (GC) reaction. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cell responses in infected and cystic fibrosis respiratory epithelium

    Författare :Rashida Hussain; Godfried M . Roomans; Maria Björkqvist; Ferenc Karpati; Hans Kollberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; airway epithelial cells; cystic fibrosis; bacterial infection; CFTR; ENaC; chloride transport; intracellular calcium; P. aeruginosa internalization; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Sammanfattning : Respiratory Epithelium. Örebro Studies in Medicine 99. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by a mutation in a cAMP-activated chloride (Cl-) channel (CFTR). Mortality and morbidity in CF is mainly due to the deregulated responses of the airway epithelial cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mapping the consequenses of physical exercise and nutrition on human health : A predictive metabolomics approach

    Författare :Elin Chorell; Henrik Antti; Lorraine Brennan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metabolomics; physical exercise; cardiorespiratory fitness nutrition; high protein and fat diet; Lactobacillus F19; probiotics; GC-MS; plasma; chemometrics; multivariate analysis statistical experimental design; design of experiments; Chemistry; Kemi; Systems Analysis; systemanalys; näringslära; Nutrition; molecular medicine medical sciences ; molekylär medicin medicinska vetenskaper ;

    Sammanfattning : Human health is a complex and wide-ranging subject far beyond nutrition and physical exercise. Still, these factors have a huge impact on global health by their ability to prevent diseases and thus promote health. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Stress response in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

    Författare :Helder Miranda; Christiane Funk; Hans-Erik Åkerlund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; High light; heat stress; ROS; Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; Deg HtrA proteases; small CAB-like proteins; Refraction-2D™; MALDI-TOF; 2D-gel; GC-MS; PCA; OPLS-DA; EPS; S-layer; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Adaptation to environmental changes is important for the survival of living organisms. Under extreme abiotic conditions, organic molecules (such as lipids, proteins and nucleic acids) are prone to damage. LÄS MER
