  1. 6. Effects of neuroactive steroids on the recombinant GABAA receptor in Xenopus oocyte

    Författare :Mozibur Rahman; Ming-De Wang; Bjarke Ebert; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; GABA; GABAA receptor; neuroactive steroids; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Obstetrik och gynekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Neuroactive steroids represent a class of both synthetic and naturally occurring steroids that have an effect on neural function. In addition to classical genomic mechanism by the hormones progesterone, deoxycorticosterone and testosterone 3α-OH metabolites of these hormones enhance GABAA receptor through rapid non-genomic mechanism. 2. 7. Neuron-glial Interaction in the Developing Peripheral Nervous System

    Författare :Mikael Corell; Åsa Fex Svenningsen; Klas Kullander; Helgi Schöith; Heape Anthony; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Schwann cell; nonmyelinating Schwann cell; myelinating Schwann cell; development; proliferation; differentiation; myelin; neural stem cell; central nervous system; peripheral nervous system; enteric nervous system; N-cadherin; GABA; GAD; GABA B receptor; baclofen; CGP55485; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The nervous system, including the brain, is the most sophisticated organ in the mammalian body. In such a complex network, neuron-glial interaction is essential and controls most developmental processes, such as stem cell fate determination, migration, differentiation, synapse formation, ensheathment and myelination. 3. 8. GABA signaling regulation by GLP-1 receptor agonists and GABA-A receptors modulator

    Författare :Omar M. Babateen; Bryndis Birnir; Lena Eliasson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid) is the main neuroinhibitory transmitter in mammalian brains.  It binds to GABA-A and GABA-B receptors. The GABA-A receptors are ligand-gated chloride channels. A variety of GABA-A receptor agonists and antagonists have been developed to study the GABA-mediated inhibition and to explore new medications. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Applying the Pump and Leak Hypothesis. An experimental and theoretical investigation of the principles of ion regulation and excitability in the crustacean stretch receptor neuron

    Författare :Sten Theander; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; lobster; stretch receptor neuron; leak current; Q-current; K-Cl cotransporter; A-current; mathematical model; excitability; GABA channel; neurophysiology; ion regulation; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : An invertebrate nerve cell preparation, the lobster stretch receptor neuron, was investigated with respect to maintenance of its resting voltage, intracellular ion concentrations and excitability using voltage clamp technique and ion-selective microelectrodes. It was found that the resting voltage (-65 mV) of microelectrode impaled cells is caused by (a) a homogenous population of K+ channels which we denoted as leak channels (b) an electrogenic and voltage-dependent Na-K pump current and (c) an inward microelectrode-induced "impalement" current carried mainly by Na+. Sammanfattning : Background Obesity is currently one of the major causes of ill health and it is clear that overeatingis the cause of obesity. However, the actions of many endogenous factors that contribute to overeating are still not well understood. LÄS MER
