  1. 1. Cell cycle control in G1 : restriction points for growth factors and anchorage dependence

    Författare :Peter Zickert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cell cycle; cyclin E; growth control; growth factor; restriction point; ECM; anchorage;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The eukaryotic cell cycle consists of four well-defined phases. During the S phase DNA is replicated and during the M phase the chromosomes are segregated to daughter cells. The time gap between completion of M phase and entry into S phase is called G1. The time gap between S phase and mitosis is called G2. LÄS MER

  2. 2. In vivo studies of cell cycle regulating proteins in rats during liver regeneration and during promotion of liver carcinogenesis

    Författare :Lena Ohlson; Inger Porsvh Hällström; Galina Selivanova; Bertha A. Brodin; Södertörns högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell cycle; cancer; HCC; p53; Rb; p107; G1-progression; G1 S transition;

    Sammanfattning : There are more than one hundred different types of cancer in humans. However, the major platform for all types of cancer is automous and uncontrolled cell division and though most types of cancer are possible to treat and cure by surgery, chemical therapy or irradiation, more efficient and less toxic therapies are urgently needed. 3. 3. Effects of polyamine pool manipulation on genes expressed during the cell cycle

    Författare :Pia Berntsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal physiology; cyclin A; ODC; MCF-7; mitotic shake off; DENSPM; CHO; cDNA microarray; cell cycle; spermine; Djurfysiologi; AdoMetDC; 2D gel electrophoresis; polyamines; spermidine; putrescine;

    Sammanfattning : The polyamines - putrescine, spermidine and spermine - are polycations found within cells. They have been shown to be essential for optimal cell proliferation and cell survival. Cells maintain their polyamine levels in a well-regulated system involving biosynthesis, catabolism and uptake/excretion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immunofluorescence studies on the cell cycle expression of cyclin A and cyclin E

    Författare :Fredrik Erlandsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell cycle regulation; cyclin A; cyclin E; immunofluorescence staining;

    Sammanfattning : Cell cycle progression is tightly regulated in normal eucaryotic cells. Cancer is caused by the transformation of cells, and is always associated with defects in the cell cycle regulatory machinery. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cell cycle regulation and DNA damage response : a record of polo-like kinase 1 activity

    Författare :Elvira Hukasova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Division and cell proliferation is an essence of life. A human cell has in its core a very simple yet a very complex machinery to coordinate cell cycle activities and events. LÄS MER
