1. Perspektiv på Patron : Bruksägaren och statsministern Christian Lundeberg (1842–1911)
Sammanfattning : The dissertation is a biography of the industrialist and statesman Christian Lundeberg, a leading and stongly pronounced conservative actor in Swedish political life during the decades around1900, but nowadays almost forgotten. The purpose is to identify the main forces – convictions as well as external factors – behind his actions. LÄS MER
2. Active and Passive Unequally Spaced Reflect-Arrays and Elements of RF Integration Techniques
Sammanfattning : Using an array synthesis tool based on a modified differential evolution algorithm, it is shown that the position-phase synthesis exhibits improved pattern characteristics compared to both the phase only and position only synthesis of uniform amplitude antenna arrays. The design of an unequally spaced planar reflect-array and an active power combining reflect-array are presented. LÄS MER
3. Transition metal-catalyzed allylic and vinylic functionalization : Method development and mechanistic investigations
Sammanfattning : The use of small molecule building blocks in, for example, pharmaceutical research and new material development, creates a need for new and improved organic synthesis methods. The use of transition metals as mediators and catalysts opens up new reaction pathways that have made the synthesis of completely new compounds possible as well as greatly improved the synthetic routes to known compounds. 4. Bacteremia after oral surgical procedures and antibiotic prophylaxis
Sammanfattning : The use of antibiotic prophylaxis in patients predisposed to infective endocarditis who are undergoing oral surgical procedures is widely accepted. Because no controlled clinical trials of antibiotic regimens for the prevention of endocarditis in humans have been done, recommendations are based on results of, e.g. LÄS MER
5. Surface Plasmon Resonance for the Detection of Coagulation and Protein Interactions
Sammanfattning : Medical improvements rely on methodological inventions and developments and on the steadily increasing knowledge of human physiology. This thesis presents methodological developments enabling the study of body fluid interactions with a material surface under more realistic and physiologically relevant conditions than previously possible.
