  1. 6. Atmospheric Production and Transport of Cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be

    Författare :Abdulhadi Kulan; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Raimund Muscheler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Earth sciences; Aerosols; Atmosphere; Cosmogenic Be-7 and Be-10; Cs-137; Clouds; Sweden; Europe; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the atmospheric distribution of the cosmogenic isotopes 7Be (half-life 53 days) and 10Be (half-life 1.51 million years) as well as the anthropogenic isotope 137Cs (half-life 30 years) in aerosols and precipitation. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Ion Beam Analysis of First Wall Materials Exposed to Plasma in Fusion Devices

    Författare :Per Petersson; Göran Possnert; Anders Hallén; Marek Rubel; Eduardo C. Alves; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ion beam analysis; Microbeam; Plasma wall interaction; Deuterium; Beryllium; Carbon fibre composites; Divertor; Nuclear reaction analysis; Helium-3; Plasma physics with fusion; Plasmafysik med fusion; Ion Physics; Jonfysik;

    Sammanfattning : One major step needed for fusion to become a reliable energy source is the development of materials for the extreme conditions (high temperature, radioactivity and erosion) caused by hot plasmas. The main goal of the present study is to use and optimise ion beam methods (lateral resolution and sensitivity) to characterise the distribution of hydrogen isotopes that act as fuel. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Late Cenozoic Geoarchives from Lake Baikal, Siberia

    Författare :Tomasz Sapota; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Ihsan Al-Aasm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary geology; Lake Baikal; Be-10 isotope; chronology; paleoclimate; tectonics; geomagnetic field; cosmic rays; Kvartärgeologi; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Three long sediment cores (BDP-98 – 600 m, BDP-96 – 200 m and BDP-93 – 100 m) drilled in Lake Baikal (Siberia) have been studied with the aims of establishing an absolute chronology and reconstructing paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes in the region. The location of the lake at relatively high latitude and continental interior and a thick continuous sedimentary archive that developed in a rift system tectonic setting provide unique material for this investigation.
