16. Island biogeography of young land uplift islands - viewed through the lens of bryophytes in a northern Swedish archipelago
Sammanfattning : Increasing habitat fragmentation and rapid global warming is changing the conditions for species populations and ecological communities around the world. This presents challenges for the maintenance of biodiversity and a dominant paradigm for conservation in fragmented habitats is given by island biogeography and metapopulation (or metacommunity) ecology. 17. Integrating domain knowledge into deep learning : Increasing model performance through human expertise
Sammanfattning : The research in this thesis is focused on how deep learning models can be designed and implemented to better emulate and integrate the heuristic reasoning process of human experts. Several case studies, within the domains of steel making and drug discovery, are conducted in order to evaluate the performance of these models, in comparison to models that do not consider human expert knowledge from the targeted domain. 18. Cluster investigations of the extent and altitude distribution of the auroral density cavity
Sammanfattning : The auroral density cavity constitutes the boundary between the cold, dense ionospheric plasma and the hot, tenuous plasma sheet plasma. The auroral density cavity is characterized by low electron density and particle populations modified by parallel electric fields. LÄS MER
