6. Spökmaskinen : Sju förändringar och förflyttningar – gestaltningsprocesser i animerad film
Sammanfattning : The Ghost Machine is a practice-based research project that explores the process of embodiment in animated film. It describes the process of transfiguration from the artist’s/auteur’s point of view and not from an outside position. LÄS MER
7. On the phase behaviour of hydrogels : A theory of macroion-induced core/shell equilibrium
Sammanfattning : Colloidal macroions are known to interact very strongly with oppositely charged polyionic hydrogels. Sometimes this results in a non-uniform distribution of the macroions within the gel, a phenomenon that is not fully understood. LÄS MER
8. Si-based structures for light emission and detection
Sammanfattning : Efforts to improve the optical performance of the indirect bandgap semiconductor silicon (Si) has been a major subject of research in the field of Si photonics due to the promising applications of Si based light emitters and detectors for optical communication. With that motivation three different Si based material systems were investigated; Si:Er/O layered structures, SiGe quantum dots and SiSn nano structures, all grown using the technique of molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). 9. Regulation of endothelial transport
Sammanfattning : A major role of endothelial cells is to control the influx of solutes into tissues. The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to gain knowledge about the regulation of endothelial transport in relation to the structure of the endothelial cytoskeleton and to elucidate the possible mechanisms of regulation. 10. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Photoelectron Spectroscopy Studies of Si(111) and Ge(111) Surfaces : Clean and Modified by H or Sn Atoms
Sammanfattning : The (111) surfaces of Si and Ge were studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) that are complementary techniques used to obtain structural and electronic properties of surfaces. The (111) surfaces have been of great interest because of the complex reconstructions formed by annealing. LÄS MER
