16. Superconformal D-branes and moduli spaces
Sammanfattning : The on-going quest for a single theory that describes all the forces of nature has led to the discovery of string theory. This is the only known theory that successfully unifies gravity with the electroweak and strong forces. LÄS MER
17. Electron - Ion Recombination Data for Plasma Applications : Results from Electron Beam Ion Trap and Ion Storage Ring
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains results of electron-ion recombination processes in atomic ions relevant for plasma applications. The measurements were performed at the Stockholm Refrigerated Electron Beam Ion Trap (R-EBIT) and at the CRYRING heavy-ion storage ring. LÄS MER
18. Observations of distant supernovae and cosmological implications
Sammanfattning : Type Ia supernovae can be used as distance indicators for probing the expansion history of the Universe. The method has proved to be an efficient tool in cosmology and played a decisive role in the discovery of a yet unknown energy form, dark energy, that drives the accelerated expansion of the Universe. 19. Dynamics of Quantum Correlations with Photons : Experiments on bound entanglement and contextuality for application in quantum information
Sammanfattning : The rapidly developing interdisciplinary field of quantum information, which merges quantum and information science, studies non-classical aspects of quantum systems. These studies are motivated by the promise that the non-classicality can be used to solve tasks more efficiently than classical methods would allow. LÄS MER
20. DESIREE: Instrumentation Developments and Hot Metal Cluster Decays
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents instrumentation developments and measurements performed at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment, DESIREE, at Stockholm University. DESIREE operates at cryogenic temperatures ~13 K, with very low background pressures of ~10-14mbar, allowing the observation of stored ions to long times of tens of seconds and longer. LÄS MER
