  1. 1. Neutron Spectrometry Techniques for Fusion Plasmas : Instrumentation and Performance

    Författare :Erik Andersson Sundén; Göran Ericsson; Sean Conroy; Erik Traneus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; magnetic proton recoil spectrometer; fusion; ITER; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron are emitted from a deuterium plasma with energies around 2.5 MeV. The neutron spectrum is intimately related to the ion velocity distribution of the plasma. As a consequence, the analysis of neutron energy spectra can give information of the plasma rotation, the ion temperature, heating efficiency and fusion power. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fragment Mass Distributions in Neutron-Induced Fission of 232Th and 238U from 10 to 60 MeV

    Författare :Vasily Simutkin; Stephan Pomp; Franz-Josef Hambsch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ADS; neutron-induced fission; intermediate neutron energies; fragment mass yield; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Since its discovery, the phenomenon of nuclear fission is the object of extensive theoretical and experimental studies. However, we are still far from a complete understanding of the fission process. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neutron Emission Spectrometry for Fusion Reactor Diagnosis : Method Development and Data Analysis

    Författare :Jacob Eriksson; Göran Ericsson; Carl Hellesen; Sean Conroy; Andreas Dinklage; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; TOFOR; MPRu; tokamak; JET; fast ions; fuel ion density; relativistic kinematics; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : It is possible to obtain information about various properties of the fuel ions deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in a fusion plasma by measuring the neutron emission from the plasma. Neutrons are produced in fusion reactions between the fuel ions, which means that the intensity and energy spectrum of the emitted neutrons are related to the densities and velocity distributions of these ions. 4. 4. Measurements of the 234U(n,f) Reaction with a Frisch-Grid Ionization Chamber up to En=5 MeV

    Författare :Ali Al-Adili; Pomp Stephan; Franz-Josef Hambsch; Michael Österlund; Talou Patrick; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fission; U-234; Neutron; Uranium; Resonance; Ionization Chamber; Frisch-grid; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This study on the neutron-induced fission of 234U was carried out at the 7 MV Van de Graaff accelerator of IRMM in Belgium. A Twin Frisch-Grid Ionization Chamber (TFGIC) was used to study 234U(n,f) between En = 0.2 and 5.0 MeV. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Enhancing the performance of the Digital Cherenkov Viewing Device : Detecting partial defects in irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies using Cherenkov light

    Författare :Erik Branger; Sophie Grape; Christopher Orton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DCVD; Nuclear safeguards; Cherenkov light; Nuclear fuel assembly; Partial defect verification; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The Digital Cherenkov Viewing Device (DCVD) is an instrument used by authority safeguards inspectors to verify irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies in wet storage based on Cherenkov light emission. It is frequently used to verify that parts of an assembly have not been diverted, which is done by comparing the measured Cherenkov light intensity to a predicted one. LÄS MER
