2. Satellie Monitoring of Urban Growth and Indicator-based Assessment of Environmental Impact
Sammanfattning : One of the major consequences of urbanization is the transformation of land surfaces from rural/natural environments to built-up land that supports diverse forms of human activity. These transformations impact the local geology, climate, hydrology, flora and fauna and human-life supporting ecosystem services in the region. LÄS MER
3. Satellite Monitoring of Urbanization and Indicator-based Assessment of Environmental Impact
Sammanfattning : As of 2018, 55% of the world population resides in urban areas. This proportion is projected to increase to 68% by 2050 (United Nations 2018). The Stockholm region is no exception to this urbanizing trend: the population of Stockholm City has risen by 28% since the year 2000. LÄS MER
4. Enhanced boiling heat transfer from a novel nanodendritic micro-porous copper structure
Sammanfattning : Following licentiate thesis is a summary of the advances made within the research project - Micro- and nano structured surfaces for enhanced boiling heat transfer – which is a collaboration effort between the Divi-sion of Applied Thermodynamics and Refrigeration and the Division of Materials Chemistry at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). The main objectives with this research project has been to: develop methods for producing highly efficient boiling surfaces with well defined micro- and nano-structured porous surfaces by the use of micro- and nano-manufacturing techniques. 5. Environmental, Resource and Health Assessments of Hard Materials and Material Substitution: The Cases of Cemented Carbide and Polycrystalline Diamond
Sammanfattning : The conventional hard material used in manufacturing industry, cemented carbide (WC-Co), mainly consists of the geochemically scarce elements tungsten and cobalt. This use of scarce resources could potentially be avoided by a material substitution to the more abundant and largely carbon-based material polycrystalline diamond (PCD). LÄS MER
