21. Atomisation and Combustion Studies of Diesel Sprays
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses two potential problems facing investigators involved in Diesel engine development: fuel atomisation and soot formation. A particular concern has been cavitation in nozzles and its influence on the spray and combustion, investigated through impingement studies, scaled-up transparent nozzle studies and evaluation of hydro grinding effects in a real-size nozzle. 22. MULTICOMPONENT SPRAY-TURBULENCE INTERACTION
Sammanfattning : Blended fuels are gaining importance in automotive industry owing to stringent legislations for emissions. It is important to understand the fuel spray formed as a consequence of injecting blended fuels into the engine (for direct injection engines) and also the influence of fuel spray on combustion properties. 23. CFD Modeling of an Alcohol-Diesel Direct-Injection Dual-Liquid-Fuel Engine using OpenFOAM
Sammanfattning : Legislation for heavy duty combustion engines are becoming more stringent. To keep up with the legislation, new engine technology is required. Furthermore, renewable fuels can also be used together with new engine technology to further reduce emissions. LÄS MER
24. LES of Jets and Sprays Injected into Crossflow
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to numerically simulate a fluid jet injected into a crossflow of the same or another fluid, respectively. Such flows are encountered in many engineering applications in which cooling or mixing plays an important role, e.g. gas turbine combustors. LÄS MER
25. Scenarios of drop deformation and breakup in sprays
Sammanfattning : Sprays are used in a wide range of engineering applications, in the food and pharmaceutical industry in order to produce certain materials in the desired powder-form, or in internal combustion engines where liquid fuel is injected and atomized in order to obtain the required air/fuel mixture. The optimization of such processes requires the detailed understanding of the breakup of liquid structures. LÄS MER
