11. Effects of α1‐acid glycoprotein onpolymorphonuclear leukocytes ‐involvement of cell surface receptors
Sammanfattning : Alpha1‐acid glycoprotein (AGP) is a highly glycosylated lipid‐binding acute‐phaseprotein. Although the exact mechanisms are unknown, several studies havesuggested that AGP may regulate the function of neutrophils and hence modulateinflammatory responses. LÄS MER
12. Development of mathematical modelling for the glycosylation of IgG in CHO cell cultures
Sammanfattning : Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most popular expression system for the production of biopharmaceuticals. More than 80% of the approved monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) or immunoglobulin G (IgG) are produced with these cells. Glycosylation is a usual post- translational modification important for therapeutic mAbs. LÄS MER
13. Carbohydrate dependent adhesion of leukocytes and the role of fucosyltransferase VII
Sammanfattning : Galectins, E-and P-selectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins that are up regulated at inflammatory lesions. Selectins expressed ou the activated endothelium mediate transient binding to leukocyte ligands that require sequential action of α 2,3-sialyltransferases and a 1,3-fucosyltransferases. LÄS MER
14. Genetic diversity of the heat labile (LT) and heat stable (ST) toxins of human enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC): New insights into polymorphism, regulation, and gene transcription
Sammanfattning : Infection with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a leading cause of diarrhea in children in developing countries and travelers to endemic regions. ETEC is a diverse pathogen, with a wide range of virulence factors including enterotoxins and more than 25 identified colonization factors (CFs). LÄS MER
15. Analytical approaches to the study of mucin glycosylation
Sammanfattning : Mucins constitute the major protein component of the mucus layer, which covers the epithelial surfaces of the respiratory, the gastrointestinal and the genitourinary tracts. Mucins carry O-linked oligosaccharides which contribute to the molecule by 50-80 weight percent, and these can be highly diverse, with 50-150 different oligosaccharides found on a purified mucin population.
