  1. 16. Tundra meets atmosphere : Seasonal dynamics of trace gas exchange in the High Arctic

    Författare :Norbert Pirk; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; tundra; methane; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic environments have experienced strong warming in recent decades, which is affecting the carbon cycle of tundra ecosystems.Degrading permafrost, diminishing snow cover, and changing hydrology are examples of ongoing processes that affect the land-atmosphere interactions and seasonal ecosystem dynamics. 2. 17. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective

    Författare :Shahab Moghadas; Claes Hernebring; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates. 3. 18. A green future with thawing permafrost mires? : a study of climate-vegetation interactions in European subarctic peatlands

    Författare :Julia Bosiö; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fennoscandia; carbon; greenhouse gas; photosynthesis; PAR; snow; climate change; permafrost; peatland; subarctic;

    Sammanfattning : Climate projections indicate that Arctic and sub-Arctic regions are facing a significant change in climate during the 21st century. With warmer temperatures precipitation is also expected to increase, and in particular winter precipitation. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Linking distributed hydrological processes with ecosystem vegetation dynamics and carbon cycling: Modelling studies in a subarctic catchment of northern Sweden

    Författare :Jing Tang; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon cycling; Water cycling; Hydrological modelling; Ecosystem modelling; Subarctic ecosystems; Climate change;

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic and Subarctic regions are of particular importance to the global climate change and are now experiencing a climate warming that is higher than the global average. Around 50% of the global soil carbon is stored in high latitude soils, especially in permafrost and peatland soils. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Changing Lowland Permafrost in Northern Sweden: Multiple Drivers of Past and Future Trends

    Författare :Margareta Johansson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Climate warming is more pronounced in the Arctic than in other parts of the world. This warming affects the terrestrial cryosphere including permafrost with consequences ranging from societal impacts to changes in hydrology and feedbacks in the climate system such as those imposed by changing greenhouse gas exchanges.
