  1. 1. Chemotherapy in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia : In vitro cellular drug resistance and pharmacokinetics

    Författare :Britt-Marie Frost; Henrik Schröder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; cytotoxicity; drug resistance; pharmacokinetics; Acute lymphoblastic leukemia; childhood; in vitro assay; vincristine; doxorubicin; Down`s syndrome; CHS 828.; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies described in this thesis were to investigate the pharmacokinetics of and cellular resistance to chemotherapy as causes of treatment failure in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).Leukemic cells from 370 children with newly diagnosed ALL were tested by the Fluorometric Microculture Cytotoxicity Assay to measure their resistance to each of ten standard cytotoxic drugs. 2. 2. Optimizing Chemotherapy in Childhood Acute Myeloid Leukemia

    Författare :Josefine Palle; Gudmar Lönnerholm; Britt-Marie Frost; Rolf Larsson; Henrik Schröder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; childhood; acute myeloid leukemia; drug resistance; pharmacokinetics; chromosomal abnormalities; Down syndrome; MLL-rearrangement; t 9; 11 ; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Despite major advances in our understanding of the biology of childhood acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and the development of new cytotoxic drugs, the prognosis of long-term survival is still only 60-65 %.In the present research, we studied the pharmacokinetics of drugs used in the induction therapy of childhood AML and performed in vitro drug sensitivity testing of leukemic cells from children with AML. 4. 4. Moisture Conditions and Frost Resistance of Concrete in Hydraulic Structures

    Författare :Martin Rosenqvist; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Structures; Hydro Power; Concrete Dams; Concrete; Frost Resistance; Scaling; Spalling; Moisture Absorption; Macroscopic Ice Lens Growth;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to the winter conditions in Sweden, the effects of frost action may have a considerable impact on the deterioration of concrete. Both superficial and internal damage, which are suspected to have been caused by frost action, have been found in concrete in hydraulic structures. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Frost-induced deterioration of concrete in hydraulic structures : Interactions between water absorption, leaching and frost action

    Författare :MARTIN ROSENQVIST; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :Vattenbyggnader; Dammar; Betong; Cement; Vattenabsorption; Vattenmättnadsgrad; Nedbrytning; Frostbeständighet; Spjälkning; Makroskopisk islinsbildning; Urlakning; Synergi; Hydraulic structures; Dams; Concrete; Cement; Water absorption; Degree of saturation; Deterioration; Frost resistance; Spalling; Macroscopic ice lens growth; Leaching; Synergy;

    Sammanfattning : Frost deterioration of concrete can result in severe consequences to the safety, durability and functionality of a structure since it impairs the strength of the concrete. Frost damage may occur to structures that are in contact with water and subjected to frost action. LÄS MER
