   Sammanfattning : This dissertation concerns the rural retail trade (lanthandel) in the Revsund area 1870-1890. The area was industrialised from the 1850s by the inland expansion of the forestry and timber industries. The Free Trade Acts in 1864 paved the way for retailers outside the towns to play an important role in supplying the population with goods. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : Inspired by the debate on the effects of large scale urban planning on the localization of small- and medium-sized businesses, this thesis focuses on the impact of modernist urban planning on the localization of restaurant outlets in Stockholm during the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The thesis is related to several literatures, including economic geography, urban history and to some extent the twentieth century history of the restaurant business in Sweden as well as urban food consumption.    Sammanfattning : In Sweden during the late 1800s, access to secondary education was not attainable for everyone. The school system separated pupils with parents who could afford to pay for tuition and boarding from those that came from less resourceful backgrounds.However, in a society in the throes of industrialization, this system was rapidly changing.
